For many patients, spiritual care is equally or more important than medical care when ill or recovering from surgery. HRMC's pastoral care program provides a team of interdenominational clergy who volunteer their time 24 hours a day, seven a days a week to spiritually support patients and families.
Ordained clergy visit inpatients daily and also provide on-call assistance whenever needed. The volunteers provide non-denominational emotional and spiritual comfort and support to all patients who desire their assistance. They contact patients' home church clergy, if desired, and also ensure confidentiality.
A chapel on the second floor of the main hospital provides a quiet place for families and clergy. A private waiting room near the emergency room also provides a quiet atmosphere for families, staff and pastors.
