Go Red EventEncourages Vigilance
Being aware of changes in your body and taking responsibility for your health are the key messages Sue Johannsen, PA-C, GNP, will stress to women attending Huron Regional Medical Center's fourth annual "Go Red" luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. One in three women has cardiovascular disease – and may not even know it. Because 1 in 2 American women dies of a heart attack or stroke compared to 1 in 30 of breast cancer, it's important to realize that it can happen to you and to begin protecting your heart. Johannsen will share her personal heart disease survivor story during the Go Red luncheon as well as important information about the risks, warning signs and preventive measures specific to women. Johannsen's presentation will be followed by a time of questions and answers for a panel of experts to include Johannsen, Dr. William Miner, an internist at Tschetter & Hohm Clinic, and Margaret Grahm, a retired registered nurse who recently experienced heart disease. HRMC's Go Red luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and will conclude promptly at 1 p.m. A delicious heart-healthy lunch will be served. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at HRMC's information desks or securely online at www.huronregional.org. The luncheon is in the HRMC Huron Towers Auditorium, which is located on the corner of 4th Street and Kansas Avenue SE. Seating is limited. More information about the event is available online at www.huronregional.org. Information about the national Go Red campaign can be found online at www.americanheart.org. |
