A Step Forward
May 27, 2025
IN NOVEMBER 2024, Tracy Stahl was carrying groceries into the house when her boot caught on a step leading into her house.
“I tried to catch myself,” she says. “But as I did, I rolled my ankle and came down on it, crushing my foot.”
Stahl was shocked to see her foot looked twisted, with a bone sticking out of place under the skin. She called her daughter, a 911 dispatcher, who immediately called for an ambulance.
EVERY SECOND COUNTS
In the emergency department at Huron Regional Medical Center, podiatric surgeon Jordan Finck, DPM, AACFAS, examined Stahl’s foot. He immediately saw something more was wrong.
“I wasn’t getting blood fl ow to my foot,” Stahl says. “There was a limited amount of time left before I could have lost my foot. I was very fortunate that Dr. Finck was able to do surgery right here.”
Right away, Dr. Finck performed a procedure to restore blood fl ow. Two weeks later, he realigned Stahl’s broken bones and secured them with metal fasteners. Stahl’s recovery has gone well, with minimal pain.
JUST STEPS FROM HOME
At HRMC, Dr. Finck provides care for a wide range of foot and ankle issues.
“Our feet take us everywhere we go,” he says. “You shouldn’t have to live with pain. There is usually something we can do to help you.”
