A Tradition of Care
September 26, 2024
FOUR GENERATIONS OF women have found a trusted health care partner in Rebekah Storm, DNP, a women’s and family nurse practitioner at HRMC Physicians Clinic.
This enduring connection, shared by members of a family ranging in age from 15 to 95, highlights the critical role women’s health care plays, particularly in rural regions.
A woman’s health care journey spans a lifetime, encompassing a wide range of needs from routine checkups to complex care. From the early stages of adolescence through menopause and beyond, a dedicated health care provider is essential. Building a strong relationship with a trusted provider like Storm ensures comprehensive and compassionate care tailored to each woman’s unique health needs.
BUILDING A FAMILY OF TRUST
Wolsey-area farmer Kathy Eichstadt chose to see Storm at HRMC Physicians Clinic for many reasons.
“It’s so important to have someone close that you can count on, whether you have a sinus infection or something more serious,” Eichstadt says. “Plus, you don’t have to take time off and spend all the gas money to drive somewhere else.”
Eichstadt, a cancer survivor, trusts Storm so much that she convinced her mother, Norma Stoley, to start seeing her. Her daughter had already seen Storm, and her grandchildren followed suit.
“I haven’t always had a PCP with whom I felt I could be open and honest, without judgment,” Kathy’s daughter Ashley Schafer says. “It gives me peace of mind that I know Rebekah is treating my family members just like she treats me.”
EMPOWERING WOMEN ACROSS GENERATIONS

Storm’s ability to connect with patients of all ages, from teenagers like Schafer’s daughter, Isabella, to older patients like Stoley, is a testament to her dedication. Women’s health care needs evolve throughout life, and having a provider who can guide them through every stage, offering preventive care and addressing concerns as they arise, empowers women to take control of their health. That strong connection fosters trust and open communication, which allows patients to feel more involved in their health care decisions.
“I feel like I can talk to her about anything,” says Isabella, a high school sophomore who sees Storm for primary care. “She listens to me so I know I’m being heard and understood.”
CARE FOR THE WHOLE WOMAN
In addition to providing family medicine care, Storm also provides women’s care at HRMC Physicians Clinic, offering everything from family planning and maternity care to routine well-woman visits, screenings, menopause care and management of conditions like urinary incontinence, sexually transmitted infections, weight management and more. She works closely with the OB/Gyns at HRMC Physicians Clinic to ensure that women have access to the full scope of care.
“As a patient, you want your provider to collaborate with other medical providers, and it’s nice when you have more than one person looking at your case and agreeing on the treatment plan,” Storm says. “I’m excited about all the physicians I work with and the specialties we have to offer.”
Storm often sees women from the beginning stages of their pregnancies and can provide many aspects of prenatal care in partnership with an obstetrical physician.
“Every pregnancy is completely different, but we usually start seeing patients between eight and 10 weeks of pregnancy, and we try to get an early ultrasound around nine weeks for dating purposes,” she says. During the initial OB visit – which may be lengthy – Storm may order bloodwork, and you’ll talk about your health history, ensure you are taking a prenatal vitamin and get answers to any questions you may have.
“Generally speaking, we see patients every four weeks up until their third trimester, and then we see them more frequently,” Storm says.
Because she also offers family medicine, she can also take care of the newest member of your family, as well as the general health needs of your entire family.
MULTIGENERATIONAL CARE
Members of the Eichstadt family are not the only multigenerational patients Storm treats. Caring for multiple members of a family gives Storm a better understanding of family dynamics, health histories and goals of her patients.
“Sometimes I will start treating a baby, and then I’ll end up caring for the mom, or vice-versa,” Storm says. “I love seeing the whole family, because I want to make it as convenient as I can for my patients. We all have places to be, so it’s nice to be able to provide a one-stop shop for care.”
