Get to know HRMC's new President & Chief Executive Officer, Erick Larson with a quick Q&A session below!
Q: Why did you choose to take the position at HRMC?
A: I was drawn to the close-knit community. Working at a small rural hospital allows each of us to foster personal connections and develop meaningful relationships with the people we serve. When we take care of our neighbor or family acquaintance or civic leader, the work becomes more personal.
Q: What quality do you admire most about the healthcare providers and staff at HRMC?
A: Our providers and staff are dedicated to our community. Their concern and desire are to ensure the health needs of the patients are being met locally. Another quality I align with is how our providers are so down-to-earth, hard-working, humble and kind.
Q: What do you hope to accompish as CEO?
A: My goal is to build and maintain the trust, confidence, reliability and access that our patients seek. I intend to focus on four core pillars:
- Clinical Quality and Patient Safety - to better our patient experience and deliver safe, effective care
- Medical Staff Cohesion - for continuity of care and extending service lines
- Employee Engagement - with a strong culture of accountability and shared responsibility coupled with support and recognition of great work
- Fiduciary Responsibility - continuing the strong stewardship of resources, making smart investments in high-impact, community-centric initiatives to expand our community outreach
Q: What do you like about the local community?
A: This community has rallied together on several initiatives - most recently, although certainly not the least of which, a COVID-19 response. I've never been a big city guy, preferring the pace and simplicity of having everything I need close to home.
