December 19, 2017
For many of us, the holidays are a time to reflect on the year that is coming to a close – and to look ahead to what next year may bring. I know this is a time of reflection for me.
This year at HRMC and HRMC Foundation has been positive. When I look back at 2017, I am again grateful to work in a place that is dedicated to caring and healing. Many stories of compassion shown to a neighbor, the celebration of new births, restored health of loved ones and the camaraderie of a dedicated team of coworkers come to mind for me.
I am proud to be part of a community with an organization committed to the health and wellbeing of the region I call home. Some of the highlights of 2017 for me include spending time with local students aspiring to medical professions and welcoming to Huron some of our scholarship students who are now home to practice medicine. Ensuring that our community has the medical services we need is a serious commitment for HRMC Foundation, and it has been exciting to be a part of that work.
As you may have already heard, in 2018, Huron will be home to a new program that will provide opportunities for local caregivers and help address our nursing shortage. We have entered into a partnership with Southeast Technical Institute to bring a two-year LPN-RN nursing program to the Huron Community Campus.
Bringing this nursing program to Huron is just the most recent investment by HRMC and HRMC Foundation in the health and wellbeing of Huron and the surrounding area. We have committed to the success of the program and have promised up to 16 scholarships to deserving students with an interest in entering the LPN-RN program. This commitment is in addition to the scholarships we currently provide local students and others interested in practicing caring and healing professions in our community. This will bring the total number of scholarships to 31.
All of the important work that HRMC Foundation has undertaken this past year would not be possible without our generous donors. So thank you to each and every person and business that supported this important work. Whether you attended another fantastic Papa Luigi, golfed in the Bob Myers or Humanitarian golf tournaments, or supported the numerous events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we thank you. Your generosity ensured friends, family and neighbors were able to receive high-quality health care close to home. Because of your generosity, patients had access to the best technology. Because of your generosity, men and women received life-saving screenings when they could not afford them.
When you reflect on 2017, I hope you are filled with happy memories and pride for the work we accomplished together. And as you look ahead to the new year, I hope you are filled with the same hope and excitement I feel for what comes next for our community. If you want to partner with us to make a difference, please visit our Donate Now page. Your gifts to this community will leave a lasting legacy!
Thank you for your generosity!
