Clinical Enrichment Program Student Nurse (Medical/Surgical)

Description

The CEP Student Nurse provides direct nursing care for individual patients with well defined nursing diagnoses. The CEP Student Nurse communicates with and on behalf of the patient and coordinates patient care with assigned preceptor and all other health team members. The CEP Student Nurse organizes those aspects of nursing care in 160 hours of direct patient care
•   two, 8-hour days of general orientation on Med/Surg including post orientation direct patient care hours as assigned
•   two, 8-hour days of observation experience in a specialty area of the students choice
•   participation in evidenced based practice project
•   completed competencies/skills by end of 6 weeks

Hours: Up to 160 hours

Shift: Days or Nights

Hours per Shift: Various

Weekends: As Able

Holidays: As Able

Job Availability: Immediately

Minimum Certification/Licenses Requirements: Enrolled as a Student Nurse in their final year of an accredited nursing program in South Dakota. BLS – required.

Preferred Experience: Three years of nursing education from an accredited school of nursing.

Documentation of an cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or higher
Proof of your skills from nursing program
Two letters of reference, one of which needs to be from a nursing instructor
One-page essay on your expectations of the internship experience
