2017 Papa Luigi Raises $40,000 for HRMC Community Hospice
March 27, 2017
Huron, S.D. – More than 300 guests attended the 18th annual “A Night with Papa Luigi,” raising nearly $40,000 for Huron Regional Medical Center Community Hospice, according to Paul Rann, executive director of the HRMC Foundation.
Papa Luigi hosted a night at “The Derby” on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Huron Event Center. Guests and local “celebrity” hosts dressed in a wide variety of Kentucky Derby themed attire while raising money for HRMC Community Hospice.
“Once again, the community demonstrated its unyielding support for high-quality, local health care," explained Rann. “Thank you to everyone who attended Papa Luigi, the ‘celebrity’ hosts, the planning committee members and, of course, all of the sponsors – without their support, this event would not have been successful.”
Funds raised through sponsorships, dinner tickets, tips and other donations will be used to support HRMC Community Hospice. The families helped by this vital program have experienced great loss, but the generosity of Papa Luigi attendees will help put the pieces of their lives back together and will allow more patients facing a life-limiting illness to spend quality time with their loved ones at home.
“Mark your calendar for next year’s event, which is scheduled for Saturday March 3, 2017,” said Rann. “Follow Huron Regional Medical Center on Facebook to view pictures from the event and watch a video on how hospice helped the Shirley Radke family.”
The purpose of the HRMC Foundation is to raise gift income each year, which is used to support and endow the maintenance and enhancement of healthcare services on behalf of HRMC. Papa Luigi is one of two major fundraising events that benefit the Foundation – and, ultimately, health care in the area. Pictures from this year’s Papa Luigi event are posted online on the Huron Regional Medical Center’s Facebook page.
