Adult Services Program at Hospice Volunteer Meeting Tuesday

HURON, SD – Volunteers and individuals interested in sharing their time and talents as a hospice volunteer are invited to attend the monthly hospice volunteer meeting Tuesday, March 29 at 3 p.m. in the HRMC Legacy Plaza Auditorium, according to Karen Decker, RN, with Huron Regional Medical Center’s Community Hospice program.
The Department of Social Services, through the Adult Services and Aging program provides assistance for older South Dakotans and adults with disabilities to be independent in their homes, close to family and community ties. Linda Berkeland will be our guest speaker and will present information about the services available in our community, including Adult Day Services, Assisted Living, Caregiver Program, Prescription assistance and Homemaker services. Berkeland will provide information on the eligibility criteria, the assessment process and how the case managers work with the individuals to provide appropriate services.
Anyone interested in becoming a hospice volunteer is welcomed to attend and explore this rewarding community service.
