April 23, 2018
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its April Exceptional Employee of the Month, Jason Barnhard, with a reception on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
Barnhard, who has worked as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Jason provides excellent care to HRMC patients and does a great job of communicating and reassuring his patients and their family members.”
“He has also been instrumental in bringing multiple pain management modalities to HRMC,” the nomination continued. “He has taken the initiative to educate himself and continues to look for ways to improve and increase his knowledge and techniques for the sake of our patients.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As April exceptional employee, Barnhard received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Originally from Mandan, North Dakota, Barnhard earned his bachelor of science in nursing and a minor in health administration from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. He also worked for several years at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck as a critical care registered nurse and charge nurse prior to attending Mount Marty School of Nurse Anesthesia in Yankton. Barnhard’s main residency site was located in Yankton, along with a regional rotation in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and a neurological and cardiovascular rotation in Sioux Falls.
Barnhard is pursuing his passion of providing current chronic pain management services by attending a pain fellowship over the next year.
He lives in Huron with his girlfriend, Alyssa Kirk. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys anything outdoors from golfing, hiking, fishing, hunting, whitewater rafting and just spending time at the lake.
