HURON, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its March Exceptional Employee of the Month, Suzanne Bauder, RN, with a reception on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
Bauder, who has worked as a registered nurse at HRMC for nine years and currently works in the medical and maternity units, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Professional, calm, organized, dependable, knowledgeable and flexible are all words that describe Suzanne.
“Suzanne has a great work ethic and focuses on patient care and the needs of the families,” the nominaton continued. “Suzanne is also conscientious. She takes her role seriously and always strives to meet the needs of patients, coworkers and the hospital.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As March exceptional employee, Bauder received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Originally from Huron, S.D., Bauder graduated from James Valley Christian School. She earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Clarkson College and also a bachelor of science in Bible study from Grace University, both in Omaha, Neb. Prior to joining HRMC, she worked at De Smet Memorial Hospital as a nurse.
“Working at HRMC has given me great opportunities to work alongside of a great team of healthcare professionals, gain knowledge and skills that contribute to my role as a bedside nurse giving competent and compassionate care,” said Bauder. “I’ve also been able to pursue educational opportunities, be active in evidence-based practice committees and acquire certifications making it possible to provide state-of-the-art care.”
She and her husband Seth, who works for Titan Machinery, have two preschool-aged children, Neil and Anna. In her spare time, Bauder enjoys spending time at home with my family, cooking, baking, crafts, outdoor activities and church involvement at Bethesda.
