Rodney Bender has been promoted to facilities services director for Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC), according to Erick Larson, president and CEO for the hospital.
As director of facility services, Bender will plan, organize, direct, and administer activities involved in the operation, maintenance and security of all HRMC facilities and grounds. He will also establish goals, develop and implement operating policies and procedures to help ensure safety and emergency preparedness.
“Rod has worked at HRMC for nearly 33 years and knows our buildings and grounds inside and out,” said Larson. “As interim director, he has provided stability and leadership to the facilities team – in addition to recruiting new team members to complete the crew.”
Bender joined the HRMC facilities team in 1989 and has grown in his abilities and roles throughout his career. Prior to working at HRMC, he worked for Kuhns Plumbing and Culligan Water in Huron.
“I am excited to work with Rod as he leads our facilities team and helps HRMC achieve our goals of growing and expanding and providing excellent health care services for our community,” said Larson.
He and his wife, Crystal, who also works at HRMC as director of patient access, have two grown children and four grandsons: Adam and his wife, Amanda, and their four sons, Conner, Eain, Remington and Marshall who live in Lead; and Allison of Pierre.
“I am excited to take on this leadership role,” Bender said. “We have a great team of experienced facilities professionals and I look forward to growing and transitioning the team as some members prepare to retire and new recruits join HRMC.”
