HURON, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its January Exceptional Employee of the Month, Diane Brandsrud, RN, with a reception on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Brandsrud, who has worked at HRMC for more than 18 years and currently works in the maternity unit, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Diane gives her patients the best care by putting their needs first.
“She shows respect by being prompt, reliable, hardworking and treating others with compassion and caring,” the nominaton continued. “Diane is such a sweet and fun person and has a heart of gold!”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As January exceptional employee, Brandsrud received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Brandsrud earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Huron University. She also holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minn. She and her husband, Steve, who is the pastor at American Lutheran Church, have four children: Seth, of Spearfish; Sam, of Vermillion; Micah, a junior at Huron High School; and Abby an eighth grader at Huron Middle School. In her spare time Brandsrud likes to read, spend time with family and travel.
