Brott Honored as June Exceptional Employee at HRMC
June 10, 2023
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its June Exceptional Employee of the Month, Tony Brott, earlier this month.
Brott, who has worked as admissions clerk at HRMC for just over two years, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor due to the positive impact he makes on patients and colleagues. According to one nomination, “Tony has a very approachable demeanor and makes people feel comfortable and at ease when they enter the hospital.”
“Tony is able to check patients in quickly. He is friendly and approachable and always has a smile or hello for anyone he passes.,” states another nomination.
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee each month and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As June exceptional employee, Brott received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a set of personalized coasters donated by fellow employee, Jeramie Sopko.
Prior to his work at HRMC, Brott worked as office manager for the Grand Island Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island, Nebraska. Prior to that, he worked in the newspaper industry for 25 years.
“What I enjoy most about my job at HRMC is that I get to send someone off to their appointment with some good will. Every person has a different story or situation they’re dealing with when they sit on the other side of the desk from me.”
Upon receipt of the honor, Brott immediately thanked his coworkers, “I am blessed to work with two wonderful people each day in Michelle Pitman and Emily Henderson and more throughout the hospital. Customer service starts with your coworkers and I am fortunate to work with some of the best.”
A graduate of James Valley Christian, Brott returned to Huron with his wife, Ruth Anne, in 2021. Together, they have two adult children, Liz (Carter) Drain of Columbia City, Indiana, and Andrew (Kayce) Brott of Chicago, Illinois.
In his spare time, Brott enjoys spending time with his wife and her parents, Craig and Dorothy Harmon of Huron. He also enjoys cooking, studying history and theology and reading. His favorite book is the Bible which includes his favorite passage, 1 Peter 5.6-7: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 605-353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org.
