DeJean Honored as HRMC December Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently honored Chuck DeJean as the December Exceptional Employee of the Month.
DeJean has worked at HRMC as an accountant for nearly 27 years and was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. “Chuck has been a go-to person for me any time I need something. He is constantly on top of things and responds with accurate, timely information,” according to the nomination. DeJean recently assisted with a new budgeting platform as well as development of a system to specifically track staff time on special projects and grants.
“Coworkers are very appreciative of Chuck’s friendly attitude and diligence,” the nomination continued. “He exhibits kindness in his work, but also great professionalism.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As December exceptional employee, DeJean received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
DeJean, a native of Huron, graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in accounting degree and joined the HRMC team in January of 1996. “Over the years there have been changes and challenges, however, it’s the people you work with that make everything worth it,” said DeJean.
He and his wife, Jeana, married in 2000 and have three children, Parker, Aiden and Piper. In his free time, DeJean enjoys camping, traveling, coaching his daughter Piper’s softball team and following the activities of his children.
