April 25, 2016
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its April Exceptional Employee of the Month, Martha Diaz-Medina, with a reception on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
Diaz-Medina, who has worked in HRMC’s business office for more than a year, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Working at the admitting desk and in preregistration, Martha provides an excellent first impression by putting our patients first and is always willing to assist with problems that may happen.
“Martha is always bright and cheery and she has the ‘can do attitude’ that brightens your day by just talking to her on the phone.," the nomination continued. “Martha is a true asset who works every day to bring a positive outlook to our organization, and our community."
HRMC's Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As April exceptional employee, Diaz-Medina received a reception with friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Originally from Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, Diaz-Medina graduated from Manuel Ramos Hernandez High School. She is currently taking classes online through Penn Foster Career School. She and her husband, Alexander Estremera, live in Huron and have two children: Jacob, age 6; and Alexa, age 4. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting and spending time with family.
