Groon Recognized as HRMC Innovator of the Quarter
December 18, 2025
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently selected Angie Groon, PTA, CLT, to receive the Innovator of the Quarter Award.
Groon, a physical therapist assistant (PTA), implemented an organizational system to color label Kinesio tape to specify each type of tape, what therapeutic technique it is utilized for and to ensure patient needs are met quickly and easily. Her idea creates efficiency in taping, while improving organization and accuracy for therapy staff, ultimately supporting high-quality patient care.
Upon acceptance of the award, Groon remarked, “I'm surprised actually, but humble too. I'm constantly coming up with different ideas for things. It's nice to be recognized for that.”
Each quarter, the Innovator Award is presented and celebrated, indicating eligibility for an annual Innovator of the Year Award. Ideas are submitted by employees via online form or paper suggestion card and are selected by a committee of peers based upon impact to patient and employee experience, feasibility, and innovation. The Innovator Award celebrates the power of innovation in solving practical problems and enhancing the quality of care delivered at HRMC.
Groon has been at HRMC for nearly three years. “My favorite part about my job is working with my patients and getting the best patient outcomes that I can.”
Groon was born and raised in Huron and now resides on an acreage north of Arlington with her husband, Chris, and their dog, Jinx. She and her husband have two children, Jake and Lydian. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, taking road trips, crocheting, baking, and canning.
