Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce Rachel Haigh-Blume has joined HRMC as director of information services (IS), according to Erick Larson, president and CEO.
As director, Haigh-Blume will coordinate IS related activities for the hospital and HRMC Physicians Clinic. She will provide administrative direction for the IS team to set and achieve goals, eliminate security risks and provide technology solutions that lead to improved patient and staff experiences. She will also define and implement IS policies, procedures and best practices and will function as HRMC’s Security Officer.
Haigh-Blume has more than 20 years of professional experience in respiratory care, management of clinical departments and education direction. She served as the executive director for Area Health Education Center of northeast South Dakota for five years where she was instrumental in creating health care based educational opportunities for area students. She has also served the community youth as a Junior Achievement volunteer for ten years.
“Rachel’s foundation in the clinical health care setting and experience in the non-profit sector paired with her perspective that everything we do is for the patient make her a great fit for this position,” explained Larson. “Her desire to help others and commitment to the community align with our goal to provide quality healthcare, close to home.”
Haigh-Blume holds both an Associate of Science in Business Management and a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care from Dakota State University in Madison. She completed a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. Currently, Haigh-Blume is enrolled in a data analytics program through Career Foundry.
Haigh-Blume looks forward to her work as director of IS at HRMC as an opportunity to positively impact the patient experience and care of the community. “Technology is enhancing patient care every day,” Haigh-Blume said. “The goal of my work is for everyone on our team to remember that there is always a patient behind the work we do, not just a number or computer.”
Haigh-Blume lives near Hitchcock with her husband, Brian, and son, Bentley. She enjoys spending time with her family and reading.
