HRMC and Employees Contribute $22,095 to United Way
February 14, 2024
The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) board of directors recently voted to supplement employee contributions to donate a combined total of $22,095 to the 2024 United Way Heartland Region (UWHR) campaign.
“The United Way makes an incredible impact in our community,” said Laurie Solem, HRMC board chairperson. “We’re pleased to continue our contribution to the initiatives of the United Way.”
HRMC employees were invited to contribute through an employee-led campaign. Pledges were collected through the month of November and with the board contribution of $12,000, the UWHR received over $22,000.
“The United Way Heartland Region is so grateful for HRMC and the continued partnership they provide,” said UWHR executive director Jen Bragg. “Without the generous support of the employees and board, so many in our community would not have access to the critical programs our partner agencies provide. As one of the few workplace campaigns to increase in donations over last year, it means so much to know that we can rely on the consistent support of HRMC to continue our work.”
This year’s UWHR campaign goal is $287,000 and funds will help to continue the mission to improve lives and advance the common good by connecting community resources with needs in the Heartland Region. The UWHR pillars are to support education, health and financial stability for our communities. Supported programs and projects include the Heartland Region Backpack Program, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, MENtors and PALS education program, Huron Youth Leadership Council, Hunger Games food drive, Slumberland Homes for the Holidays bed giveaway, Born Learning Trail, Day of Caring and Day of Action, Familywize Prescription program, 211 Helpline, SD State Fair Pay it Forward partnership as well as many volunteer opportunities. The United Way also promotes other initiatives in education, health and wellness, strengthening families, youth and senior programs.
“There’s still time to make a contribution in support of the important resources UWHR provides to the community,” said Bragg. Interested donors can contact the United Way office at 605-352-3537 or download a pledge card form at www.liveunitedhuron.com.
