HRMC Auxiliary Elects Officers at Luncheon, Seeks Additional Volunteers

The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Auxiliary hosted their annual membership luncheon on Thursday, October 19 in the HRMC Legacy Plaza Auditorium.
HRMC President and CEO, Erick Larson, opened the luncheon with a hospital update, reporting on physician recruitment, including upcoming additions of a general surgeon, family medicine physician as well as a pediatrician and podiatrist in the summer months. Larson also updated the group on patient and employee experience efforts. He thanked the volunteers for sharing their time and talent at HRMC and noted the profound impact their presence has on patients and employees.
Kevin Hofer, MD, orthopedic surgeon, spoke to the volunteer group about his practice at HRMC, consisting of trauma surgery, sports medicine, general orthopedic care, joint replacements, and the addition of robotic assisted total knee and total hip replacements. Dr. Hofer also thanked the volunteers for their service.
Officers for the coming year were elected at the event, including Bob Eickhoff-president, Bonnie Sheridan-membership, Judy Tschetter-treasurer/gift shop and LaVonne Wipf-secretary. Pat Pomerico was elected to serve as plant caretaker and Diane Wipf as courtesy representative. Brenda Christiansen, Pat Meink and Gloria Schneider will serve as at-large board members. Officers will be installed at the next regular Board meeting, held in November.
The Auxiliary is seeking additional volunteers to provide a friendly welcome to the hospital and provide assistance in hospital lounges, assisting visitors with hospital and patient information at the information desks and delivering floral arrangements to patients. The Auxiliary volunteers also manage and staff the hospital gift shops located in the main hospital and Central Tower lobbies, which, along with events and membership dues, support scholarships and other charitable projects.
Auxiliary volunteers are invited to the annual hospital picnic and luncheons, in addition to other events. Volunteers also receive thank-you gifts from HRMC for their services.
