HRMC Board of Directors Achieve Gold Status for Ovation Healthcare’s for Board Certification

The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) board of directors was recently awarded Gold Certification for Ovation Healthcare’s Board Certification Program.
The Board Certification Program is designed to demonstrate the board’s understanding of governance accountability, commitment to govern according to standards of excellence and governance best practice, utilization of benchmarking data in financial operations as well as quality and patient safety, coordination of resources, accountability and transparency within the community.
Each member of the twelve-person board achieved the certification, earning the gold status by completing eight hours of board education, attending at least 75% of regularly scheduled board meetings and completing a personal attestation of compliance with hospital bylaws and standards of excellence.
Erika Sundrud, MA, LSSMBB, CPHQ, group vice president for Ovation Healthcare, congratulated the HRMC board of directors on the accomplishment, “The Board Certification Program is built on the idea that accountability and high standards of excellence are the hallmarks of quality governance and leadership. This remarkable accomplishment demonstrates the board’s willingness to learn and commitment to excellence.”
The HRMC board of directors received the award presentation at the Ovation Healthcare Leadership Conference held in Austin, TX in late February and was the only board to achieve the gold certification, with 100% of the board completing the program.
“I’m extremely proud of the work our board members have done to attain this certification,” remarked Laurie Solem, HRMC board chairperson. “Our CEO expressed a vision for our board to learn and grow through this experience and each board member rose to the occasion. This education has provided us with the opportunity to provide the highest quality of governance and commitment to excellence in the delivery of health care for our community.”
