HRMC Board of Directors Achieve Repeat Gold Certification

The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) board of directors was recently awarded Gold Certification for Ovation Healthcare’s Board Certification Program for the third consecutive year.
The Board Certification Program is designed to demonstrate the board’s understanding of governance accountability, commitment to govern according to standards of excellence and governance best practice, utilization of benchmarking data in financial operations as well as quality and patient safety, coordination of resources, accountability and transparency within the community.
Each member of the thirteen-person board achieved the certification, earning the gold status by completing eight hours of board education, attending at least 75% of regularly scheduled board meetings and completing a personal attestation of compliance with hospital bylaws and standards of excellence.
Erika Sundrud, MA, LSSMBB, CPHQ, group vice president for Ovation Healthcare, congratulated the HRMC board of directors on the accomplishment, “The Board Certification Program is built on the idea that accountability and high standards of excellence are the hallmarks of quality governance and leadership. This demonstrates the board’s willingness to learn and commitment to excellence.”
The HRMC board of directors received the award presentation at the Ovation Healthcare Leadership Conference in late February and is the only board to ever achieve the gold certification, with 100% of the board completing the program for three consecutive years.
“It’s evident what truly committed individuals we have on the hospital board,” remarked Laurie Shelton, HRMC board member who attended the conference. “I was honored to accept the award on behalf of the board, II was honored to accept the award on behalf of the board, whose commitment to excellence is truly commendable.”
