HRMC Construction Projects Slightly Ahead of Schedule

Three construction projects that kicked off with the Huron Regional Medical Center Physicians Clinic expansion in June are slightly ahead of schedule for completion over the next 5-6 months.
The three projects are designed to improve access to care close to home, as well as provide state-of-the-art technologies to improve the diagnostic capabilities of physicians in the community.
Once completed, the HRMC Physicians Clinic, which is located just south of the hospital, will be transformed from a single-story structure to a two-level clinic. The second story is enclosed, and the exterior is planned to be completed shortly after Thanksgiving. This includes a new sliding glass front door, so the main entrance can be returned to the west side of the building, from the temporary south entrance.
Inside, the walls are framed and sheet rock is being installed in the exam rooms on the north end of the clinic. Even with delays in construction materials, this project has been able to receive needed materials and is ahead of schedule with current construction completion is planned for mid-May. After construction completes, furnishing can begin and move-in planned.
HRMC’s Imaging Center is nearly complete with both the new 3D mammography and first-in the-region MRI operational and providing excellent quality images for improved patient diagnosis. Finish work continues and should be complete in the next couple of months.
The third project, which kicked off early September, will expand HRMC’s emergency department and outpatient treatment areas. Two new exam rooms will be added to the emergency room along with updating the negative pressure suite and adding a room specifically designed for patients experiencing psychological symptoms and issues. Three private outpatient treatment suites where patients can receive chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, blood products and fluids, infusion treatment and other therapies will have a dedicated entrance of the alleyway on the east side of the hospital. Before Christmas the temporary walls in the ER will be removed with about 75 percent of the work complete. After Christmas, construction crews will continue work on the nurses station, flooring, ceiling and doors finishes. The emergency room, outpatient treatment and imaging center, should be complete by mid-April.
