October 23, 2015
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its October Exceptional Employee of the Month, Marcie Glanzer, with a reception on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
Glanzer, who has worked as a unit secretary in the emergency room for more than two years was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Marcie always goes the extra mile to ensure patients are taken care of.
“She also works hard to ensure the workflow of the emergency room stays organized,” the nominaton continued. “Marcie is so friendly to her fellow staff members, as well as, patients and their families making them feel welcome and at ease during their ER visit.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As October exceptional employee, Glanzer received a reception with friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Glanzer was born and raised in Doland and graduated from Willow Lake High School. Prior to joining HRMC, Glanzer worked as a rural mail carrier before taking classes to earn an associate degree in Health Services Administration.
“I enjoy working in the ER as all the nurses are awesome and no two days are the same,” said Glanzer. “It can be very hectic – but also very interesting work.”
She and her husband, Richard, who farms and runs an auto shop northwest of Carpenter, will celebrate 35 years of marriage in December. They have three grown children: son Ryan (Lauren) of Austin, Texas; son Alex (Ann) of Willow Lake and daughter Jordan (Calvin) Krogman of Vermillion. They also have eight grandchildren ranging in age from three months to 12 years. In her spare time, Glanzer loves reading, eating chocolate, playing with her grandkids and three dogs.
