HRMC Honors Hedlund and Daly at Awards Ceremony

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored employees for 707 years of combined service in addition to two employees for exceptional customer service skills at the hospital’s Employee Awards Presentation on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Legacy Plaza Auditorium.

During the event, which was hosted at the hospital and online to accommodate social distancing, 47 employees from 21 departments were recognized for sharing their hearts and years of service, ranging from 5 to 45 years, with hospital patients. Employees in attendance enjoyed a meal while reflecting on 2021 and celebrating the care provided by all in attendance. For those who worked the night shift, administrative staff hosted an evening meal and celebrated with the team taking care of our patients overnight.
In addition to the service awards, HRMC recognized two employees with special awards. Sue Hedlund, RT(R) (M) (CT), who has worked radiologic technologist in HRMC’s medical imaging department for 41 years and now works when needed, was selected by the HRMC board of directors to be the 2020 Exceptional Employee of the Year from the 12 monthly exceptional employee candidates.
“Sue goes the extra mile for patients, taking her time with them and does an excellent job of explaining to them what their appointment will entail. Her actions lift others up and allow hopefulness to rule and she consistently gives people more than they expect to get.” according to coworkers. “She recently went above and beyond for a patient, following her intuition to make sure that nothing was missed and potentially saving her life.”

Kim Daly, LPN
HRMC Physicians Clinic
Receiving the 2021 Mickey Mouse Award was Kim Daly, LPN, who has worked at the HRMC Physicians Clinic for more than two years. The Mickey Mouse Award began in 1989 in memory of Dr. David Buchanan whose uplifting personality and contagious smile were an inspiration to all that knew him. Each year, an HRMC employee who is dedicated to making people feel better in whatever they do is selected by their coworkers.
“Kim always fills the room with excitement, is always joyful and her happy demeanor is so contagious, it spreads smiles all around! She is a natural people person giving her undivided attention to coworkers, patients and their families,” nominating coworkers said. ‘Kim is always striving to ensure everyone around her is noticed and getting the best care possible!”
