HRMC Honors Hendrickson as May Exceptional Employee

HRMC honored its May Exceptional Employee of the Month, Trey Hendrickson, RN, earlier this month.
Hendrickson, who has worked as registered nurse at HRMC for just over one year, has provided care to patients in the emergency and inpatient departments and recently joined the dialysis care team. Nominated by colleagues, Hendrickson has been described as helpful, kind and compassionate with a committed work ethic. According to a nomination by one peer, “Recently, Trey jumped in without hesitation to help assist a team member from another department in transferring and getting a patient settled.” Another co-worker noted, “Trey has been mentioned on several occasions in patient satisfaction surveys for his excellent care of patients.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees by the HRMC board of directors.
As May exceptional employee, Hendrickson received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Hendrickson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Wyoming, completing his final semester of training online as he was hospitalized while battling cancer. Hendrickson attributes his experiences as a patient and patient advocate in the way he chooses to deliver care to others. Prior to joining HRMC, he worked as a nurse in Sundance, Wyoming.
“I became a nurse because of a traumatic situation with my daughter when she was eight months old and because I believe that everyone should have access to excellent care,” explained Hendrickson whose daughter, Sylvia, has a medical condition which caused her to require resuscitation. Hendrickson was able to revive his daughter and made the determination at that time to discontinue physical therapy school and become a nurse. “I have met so many interesting people with fascinating stories,” he says. “Now that I’m a nurse, my favorite part of the job is meeting and connecting with patients.”
Hendrickson and his wife, Holly, live near Willow Lake with their four children, Stetson, Marleigh, Sylvia and Kennedy.
