HRMC Honors Koester as February Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its February Exceptional Employee of the Month, Melissa Koester, with a department reception earlier this month.
Koester, who works as the receptionist at HRMC’s ProRehab south location, was nominated by coworkers. “Quietly working behind the scenes as an irreplaceable member of the ProRehab team, Melissa keeps operations moving efficiently day after day,” according to the nomination.
“Melissa is the ‘go-to’ guide for all insurance questions and finds the answers with her can-do attitude,” the nomination continued. “She instinctively demonstrates the values of HRMC and the care and concern for her patients is the gold standard for patient-centered care.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As February exceptional employee, Koester, received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Koester has been employed by HRMC for one year since the purchase of Pro PT where she worked eight years. She earned a medical assisting degree from Lake Area Technical Institute and upon graduating, she worked in a therapy clinic in Watertown for five years prior to moving to Huron.
She has three children: Wyatt, age 12, Tate, age 9, and Oakley, age 7. In her spare time, Koester enjoys hiking, camping, playing with her boys, wood working, crafting and also teaching Sunday school.
