HRMC Honors McCaskell as December Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its December Exceptional Employee of the Month, Rebecca McCaskell, CNP, with a department reception earlier this week.
McCaskell, who has worked at HRMC for more than five years and currently works as the inpatient certified nurse practitioner (CNP), was nominated not by one coworker, but the entire medical/surgical unit. “Becca is ‘total team player,’ dependable and continuously going above and beyond for her coworkers, patients and doctors alike,” according to the nomination.
“She never fails to lend a helping hand whether with a patient or even with passing meal trays. She’s not afraid to jump right in and she makes sure that all of her patients have the best possible continuity of care,” the nomination continued. “Becca advocates for her patients who need to be sent to a higher level of care when necessary and takes the time to ask questions, investing her time and resources to better help her patients facing a health crisis and sharing that knowledge with others on the care team.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As December exceptional employee, McCaskell, received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
McCaskell joined HRMC in June 2016 as a registered nurse and continued to work part-time while she completed a Master of Science family nurse practitioner degree at South Dakota State University. McCaskell also holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of South Dakota. She’s currently working a wound care certification so she can expand her role and help more individuals in the community.
Originally from Huron, McCaskell is the daughter of Wes and Shari Goehner. She and her husband Trevor, who works at Northwest Pipe Fittings, live in Huron with their daughter Haelyn, 23 months. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and all things fitness-related. Right now, she and her husband are also spending a lot of time working on getting everything ready for a new house they are in the process of building!
