HRMC Honors Renner as September Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its September Exceptional Employee of the Month, Sheila Renner, MT, laboratory supervisor, with a small department reception earlier this month.
Renner, who has worked as a medical technologist in HRMC’s lab for more than 30 years was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to the nomination, “Sheila is humble and selfless and consistently doing what needs to be done to provide lab results for doctors to make informed patient diagnoses.”
“She has an enthusiasm for learning, creating a great outlet for her to be a trusted in-house expert on all of the lab equipment and functions,” the nomination continued. “Sheila tackles big and small problems with a positive, non-judgmental attitude and lighthearted laugh – making her easy to work with and fun to be around!”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As September exceptional employee, Renner, who also received the honor in October 1996, received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Renner graduated from Huron High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from South Dakota State University in 1989. Prior to joining the HRMC team, she worked at St. Luke’s in Aberdeen for a year and at St. Joe’s in Mitchell for a year.
She lives in Huron with her husband, Jeff who is the frozen/dairy manager at Coborn’s. They have one son, Brandon, who is studying Electrical Construction & Maintenance at Mitchell Technical College in Mitchell. In her spare time, Renner enjoys being a member of the gardening club, volunteering, cooking, baking and crafting.
