HRMC Honors Rycraft and Loewen for Commitment and Caring

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) president and CEO Erick Larson recognized a leader and physician on the HRMC team with two new awards at a recent holiday gathering.
Larson awarded the first UBUNTU award to Deb Rycraft, medical imaging director for HRMC. “The UBUNTU award is something I do which recognizes a true leader in our organization who emulates not only our core values of being helpful, knowledgeable and accessible, but also does recognizes their contribution is part of something bigger than just themselves,” explained Larson.
“UBUNTU means ‘I am because we are,” and its aim is to acknowledge the recipient understands that concept and practices it in their work – across the entire organization, not just their department,” said Larson “From my point of view, it’s relevant to each of us in this organization – we need each other to be successful – and Deb certainly exemplifies that in everything she does.”

The Spirit of Caring award was presented to Dr. Nathan Loewen, a family medicine with obstetrics physician at New Life Clinic. “This award is recognition of our valued clinical practitioners who do such a great job taking care of our community. The award underscores the selfless service our providers give every day and seeks to recognize one of our medical staff in exemplifying the work ethic, selfless, caring attitude we hope everyone will emulate in their approach to serving our patients,” explained Larson.
“The Spirit of Caring recipient is intended to be someone who gets it, who will often make sacrifices in order to do what is necessary for the good of our patients,” said Larson. “Dr. Loewen is a long-time practitioner in our community who also serves as our chief of medical staff. This award is simply a recognition of his dedication and selfless service who goes above and beyond to answer the call to help.”
