HRMC Honors Schroeder as Exceptional Employee
November 01, 2018
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its October Exceptional Employee of the Month, Chelsey Schroeder, PTA, with a reception on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
Schroeder, who has as a physical therapist assistant for more than three years, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Chelsey genuinely cares about the patients she works with.”
“Recently she reached out to an orthopedic surgeon when she suspected an infection following a total knee replacement, leading to a better recovery and outcome for the patient,” the nomination continued. “As our ‘tech expert,’ Chelsey has also taken on additional responsibilities to help out with the department’s documentation and scheduling system.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As October exceptional employee, Schroeder received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Schroeder graduated from Lake Area Technical Institute in May 2015 where President Barrack Obama spoke at her commencement program. She has further education in SASTM (sound assist soft tissue manipulation), LSVT BIG ® therapy training for Parkinson’s and shoulder and knee orthopedic rehabilitation. She also enjoys working with aquatic therapy.
Originally from Wessington Springs, Schroeder recently moved back with her cat, who she creatively named House Cat. She has two sisters, a brother and two nieces and nephews who all still live in South Dakota. In her spare time, Schroeder enjoys hunting, riding horse, spending time outdoors, making crafts, attending concerts and enjoying time out with friends.
