May 27, 2016
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its May Exceptional Employee of the Month, Jessica Sorensen, with a reception on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
Sorensen, who has worked as a certified nurse aide on HRMC’s medical floor for more than two years, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Jessica has a ready smile that tells you that she cares and her patients feel her warmth and compassion.
“Jess works well with her coworkers and takes the time to orientate new staff with confidence.," the nomination continued. “Jess values all of the staff she comes in contact with, find ways to improve and always treats others as she would like to be treated."
HRMC's Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As May exceptional employee, Sorensen received a reception with friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Sorensen is enrolled in the licensed practical nursing program through Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, S.D., and will begin classes next semester. She lives in Huron with her daughter, Adrionna, who is four years old, and is expecting her second child this fall. In her spare time, Sorensen enjoys walking, hiking and spending time with daughter.
Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 353-6539 for a nomination form or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
