HRMC Honors Todd as Beyond Exceptional Employee
December 09, 2025
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently recognized Candi Todd, nurse aide, with the Beyond Exceptional Everyday (BEE) Award.
Todd works as a nurse aide on the medical floor. She was nominated for the award by a colleague who shared, “I have worked with Candi in a previous department and now seeing her blossom into a nurse aide is amazing!” The nomination continued, “She's definitely doing what she loves. Candi always puts the patients first in any condition and/or situation. I have witnessed how caring and compassionate she is toward everybody that walks in this hospital with a smile or a simple ‘hello.’ But when it comes to her work, she won't just walk into a patient's room for a moment and leave. She will have a full conversation with them while listening to their needs, making sure they're comfortable, and double checking them throughout each time!”
Before moving to Huron, Todd worked in home health care then transitioned to food service at HRMC’s Central Café. Once there was an opening on the medical floor, she interviewed and received a nurse aide position within twenty-four hours. Todd recalls, “There was an opening, and I got asked if I wanted to come up to med floor so I said yes! I came in, put in my application and was called 24 hours later to interview. I had my interview and then was hired as I left the hospital. I got goosebumps.”
Todd enjoys the fulfillment of helping people. "What I like most about my job is that I get to help people. That’s always what I wanted to do. I always thought my purpose in life was to help people. I love doing this.”
HRMC’s BEE Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s core values of REACH by being respectful, engaged, available, competent, and helpful. Employees can be nominated by fellow coworkers or by patients or visitors who witness exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments select the BEE Award honoree on a quarterly basis.
As BEE Award recipient, Todd received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, $30 credit to the HRMC employee store, a professional photo session, $50, and a lapel pin.
Upon receiving the award, Todd expressed, “It makes me really happy. I'm glad I'm making a difference in someone's life, because that's what makes me feel good about myself. It doesn't matter what I'm going through as long as I can make someone else's day better.”
Todd lives in Huron and in her off time she cares for her former husband and her grandchildren. Her other hobbies include listening to music and just being a caregiver.
Patients or visitors can nominate caregivers and employees to receive recognition at huronregional.org/recognition-awards or by calling 605-353-6572.
