HRMC Honors Wangsness as Beyond Exceptional Employee
June 11, 2024
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently honored Eric Wangsness with the Beyond Exceptional Everyday (BEE) Award.
Wangsness, who has been employed at HRMC for over 27 years, works in the radiology department as a radiology technologist. He was nominated for the award by colleagues. One nomination stated, “Eric is always engaged in his tasks at hand. He is a motivated team member that really helps the radiology team make improvements. He is good at pointing out issues and being a part of creating solutions to make improvement of processes.”
Another colleague remarked, “Eric is always very helpful to multiple areas of the hospital. He has so much experience and knowledge in his field of expertise. He will jump up to help whenever needed. He is a huge asset to HRMC.”
HRMC’s BEE Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s core values of REACH by being respectful, engaged, available, competent, and helpful. Employees can be nominated by fellow coworkers or by patients or visitors who witness exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments select the BEE Award honoree on a quarterly basis.
As BEE Award recipient, Wangsness received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, $30 credit to the HRMC employee store, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, and a lapel pin.
Upon receiving the award, Wangsness expressed, “I chose to be a radiology technologist to be an integral part of the medical team to help patients find out what their problems are. I like being able to put patients at ease when they may be nervous about coming to an unfamiliar place. Receiving the BEE Award is a nice way for us [radiology department] to be recognized for doing the hard work.”
Wangsness lives in Huron with his wife Joan. He enjoys reading, watching, movies, playing golf and spending time with his wife.
Patients or visitors can nominate caregivers and employees to receive recognition at huronregional.org/recognition-awards or by calling 605-353-6572.
