HRMC Honors Wooledge as March Exceptional Employee

Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its March Exceptional Employee of the Month, Makayla Wooledge, LPN, earlier this week. Her March celebration was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wooledge, who has worked as a nurse at HRMC for one and half years was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to the nomination, “Makayla is a great team player and such an asset to HRMC!”
“While working with an inpatient, she noted an increase in weight gain since admission,” the nomination continued. “She took the initiative to contact the cardiologist and keep the cardiac rehabilitation staff in formed.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As March exceptional employee, Wooledge received a small in-department recognition announcement with social distancing, flowers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Wooledge earned a diploma in licensed practical nursing from Southeast Technical Institute in December 2018. She is completing an associate of applied science in registered nursing through Southeast’s LPN-RN program in Huron and plans to graduate this summer. She and her boyfriend Nathan Hofer, who is the human resources director for the City, live in Huron. She is the daughter of Rick and Charnelle of Sioux Falls and she has a brother, Hunter who also lives in Sioux Falls. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing.
