HRMC Volunteer Meeting Set for Tuesday, May 31
May 27, 2016
Huron, S.d. – Volunteers interested in sharing your time and talents with hospice patients and their families are invited to a volunteer meeting Tuesday, May 31, at 3:00 p.m. in the HRMC Legacy Plaza Auditorium, according to Karen Decker, RN, with Huron Regional Medical Center’s Community Hospice program.
Volunteers will be assembling the newsletter at the meeting. Anyone interested in becoming a hospice volunteer is welcomed to attend and explore this rewarding community service.
Hospice volunteers spend time at the bedside, help out family caregivers, participate with outreach efforts, assist in the office, provide fundraising support and much more. They give of themselves to make life better for others. More volunteers are always welcome – both men and women are invited and encouraged to share their talents. Many hospice volunteers choose to give of their time helping others because of their own experiences with the compassionate care hospice provided to their dying loved one.
HRMC Community Hospice uses a team of physicians, nurses, clergy, social workers, aides and volunteers, along with the patient and family members, to provide pain-management, symptom control, emotional and social services support, and spiritual care.
Volunteers typically meet monthly on the last Tuesday of the month. For more information on hospice, call HRMC’s Hospice department at 353-6520, or visit the hospital’s website at www.huronregional.org.
