HRMC Physicians Clinic Welcomes General Surgeon

Terry Larsen, DO, general surgeon, has joined the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) medical staff, according to Cy Haatvedt, MD, chief medical officer for HRMC.
Dr. Larsen began practice at the HRMC Physicians Clinic on November 1 and will care for the surgical needs of patients of all ages in the clinic, hospital and emergency room. Dr. Larsen provides open and laparoscopic surgical procedures, including colorectal, endocrine, esophageal, breast and skin, and abdominal surgeries as well as upper and lower gastrointestinal procedures and trauma surgeries.
“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Larsen to HRMC,” stated Dr. Haatvedt. “He brings considerable experience and the breadth of skills required in rural general surgery.”
Dr. Larsen holds Bachelor of Science degrees in biochemistry and medical technology and began his career as a medical lab technologist, working in a hospital setting. He returned to medical school and earned his Doctor of Osteopathy at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in 2004. He completed post-graduate training at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts in 2006 and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2010.
Dr. Larsen recently moved to Huron from Lyndonville, Vermont, where he had provided rural general surgery care for over 13 years. Dr. Larsen is originally from Sioux City, Iowa and has family in the area. He is looking forward to reconnecting with his roots and joining the Huron community. In his free time, Dr. Larsen enjoys board games, cooking and assembling models. He is also a history buff with an enjoyment of maps and trivia.
