HRMC Surgical Expansion Continues
December 30, 2025
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce continued progress on the hospital’s surgical services $19.4 million expa
nsion and renovation project, marking an important milestone in the effort to enhance access to advanced, patient-centered care close to home.
Construction crews have now fully framed four new operating rooms, establishing the structural foundation for the expanded surgical suites. In addition, the exterior façade of the new addition is complete, offering the community a clear glimpse of the future of surgical care at HRMC.
Despite ongoing weather challenges, construction progress has remained steady. Seasonal conditions, including excessive moisture and fluctuating temperatures, have required flexibility in scheduling; however, the project advances with Phase 1 planned for completion by March 16, concluding interior finishes in the four new operating rooms. This phase represents a significant step toward bringing expanded surgical capacity online while ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and patient comfort.
“Weather has presented some challenges, but our construction partners continue to make strong progress,” said Pam Shoultz, director of surgical services. “Completing interior finishes in the new operating rooms by mid-March keeps us moving forward and brings us closer to enhancing surgical services for our community with new space and technology.”
Additional phases will include continued interior build-out, integration with existing surgical spaces, and renovation of current areas to ensure a seamless transition between new and existing facilities.
When complete, the surgical expansion will modernize HRMC’s operating environment, supporting advanced technology, improved workflows for care teams, and an enhanced experience for patients and families. The project reflects HRMC’s commitment to delivering high-quality care close to home.
