HRMC Workforce Recruiter Helps Students

My name is Teresa Haatvedt, BSN, and I am the health care workforce recruiter at Huron Regional Medical Center. My primary purpose for this newly created position is to find and nurture individuals interested in a health care career and connect them with educational opportunities and open positions in the Huron community.
I am excited to work alongside the students, post-secondary colleges/universities and community businesses to promote health care and build an employee base of compassionate and committed workforce.
With the resignation of our Dakota Learner mentor, Joan Edwards, I will do my best to support the students as she has for the last few years– even though she leaves big shoes to fills. I will work closely with the students to support them during their education process by assisting them with mentoring support, connecting them to tutors, proctoring exams and being a listening ear and resource for whatever they need to be successful.
As workforce recruiter, I will visit area high school students to share information about valuable scholarships, health care apprenticeships and hands-on opportunities to explore the wide variety of fields within health care. In addition to nursing, our community has opportunities for students to work in radiology, respiratory therapy, surgical technician, informatics, medical records and other fields.
I’ll also work beside the HRMC Foundation with the selection of Healthy Huron scholarships and attend career fairs to promote scholarship information and employment opportunities in our region.
