HRMC Announces Three New Directors

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce the appointments of three new directors who have recently joined the organization. Travis Walz has been named director of information technology, Maddison Waters, COTA/L, has been named director of Pro Rehab, and Rob Lord has been named director of facilities.
As director of information technology, Walz oversees HRMC's technology infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable systems that support patient care and daily operations across the organization.
Walz brings 25 years of information technology experience and most recently served as director of information technology at Dakota Wesleyan University. He holds an associate degree in computer systems technology and has earned several industry certifications, including VMware, Microsoft, Cisco, HP Blade Server and VOIP Interactive Intelligence certifications.
"I'm excited for the new challenges and the opportunity to grow alongside such a great team," said Walz. "The chance to help people while working in healthcare brings a whole new level of purpose that I'm looking forward to. I value growth, learning and embracing new challenges."
Outside of work, Walz and his wife, Carmen, have been married for 26 years and have four daughters and four grandchildren. They live on an acreage near Mount Vernon where they raise miniature dachshunds and have horses. Walz has coached competitive softball for more than 20 years, including at the collegiate level, and enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and being with family.
As director of Pro Rehab, Waters provides leadership for HRMC's rehabilitation services, supporting physical, occupational and speech therapy teams while promoting exceptional, patient-centered care.
Waters graduated from Lake Area Technical College in 2019 with an Associate of Applied Science degree and is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). She brings seven years of rehabilitation experience, most recently serving as director of rehabilitation in a skilled nursing setting in Huron, where she led multidisciplinary therapy teams while providing patient-centered care.
"I am most excited for the opportunity to continue expanding my knowledge and growing both as a therapist and director of rehabilitation," said Waters. "I enjoy learning, taking on new challenges and finding ways to continuously improve as a team. I look forward to building new relationships, gaining experience in a hospital environment, and continuing to support both patients and staff.”
Outside of work, Waters has been married to her husband for nearly five years, and they have a one-year-old daughter. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, being outdoors, and spending time on the water during the warmer months.
As director of facilities, Lord oversees the maintenance and operations of HRMC's facilities, helping ensure a safe, functional and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Lord brings more than 15 years of management experience in the cable television and internet industry, where he oversaw two technical operations centers and led a team of 12 employees.
"I am very excited to step into this new role and take on a new challenge," said Lord. "This opportunity allows me to grow professionally while leveraging my experience to build an efficient, effective and highly collaborative Maintenance/Biomed team. My goal is to enhance service and support for the many departments at HRMC, helping ensure they have the resources and reliability they need to provide excellent patient care."
Outside of work, Lord has called Huron home for the past 29 years. He and his wife, Shari, have three children and two grandchildren. He enjoys home improvement projects, woodworking, maintaining his lawn, and spending time with family. He has also volunteered with Feeding South Dakota and local backpack programs.
