September 29, 2019
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) announces the newest addition to the rehabilitation services department, according to Karmen Weinzirl, PT, director of HRMC’s rehabilitation services.
Colton Ketelhut, PT, who is originally from Miller, joined HRMC as a physical therapist in August and provides injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation to patients of all ages. He has special interests in sports injury rehabilitation including caring for athletes who have sustained concussion. HRMC provides physical therapy services to patients staying in the hospital, as well as outpatients of all ages.
“I’m excited bring my passion and energy for helping people to Huron,” Ketelhut says about his growing career as a physical therapist. “Surrounding communities will have more access to physical therapy while staying close to home.”
“I am pleased to welcome Colton to our team,” explained Weinzirl. “His drive to care for the physical therapy needs of our communities, in particular in the area of sports injuries, will benefit all of our patients.”
Ketelhut graduated from Miller High School in 2012 and received his doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of South Dakota. To complete his degree, he was awarded the Healthy Huron Commitment Scholarship, formerly known as the Fund for the Future. HRMC Foundation started the scholarship to help recruit new healthcare staff like Ketelhut.
“The scholarship was a huge help in supporting my education,” he says. “I intend to give back that help with my time at the medical center.” Ketelhut and his wife Mikayla purchased their first house in Huron while he was still attending college, and he traveled back from campus every weekend. Now, he is proud to call Huron his hometown, and HRMC is pleased to offer his services to the community.
