Kranzler Recognized with DAISY Award at HRMC

Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has announced Lisa Kranzler, RN, as a recipient of the DAISY Award.
Kranzler works in the HRMC Birthing Center and was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient. “Lisa was amazing during my stay. She is supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable,” stated the nomination. “Lisa advocated for me and helped keep me calm. This is my third child and Lisa is the best nurse I have ever had. She is amazing at her job and before leaving the hospital I had an overwhelming feeling of thankfulness for having Lisa as a nurse.”
Kranzler has been at nurse at HRMC for more than 27 years. “Lisa goes above and beyond in her dedication to her patients and HRMC, said Amy Goergen, RN, HRMC Birthing Center director. “She teaches prenatal classes, serves as a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) instructor to train other health care professionals and truly exemplifies the HRMC Core Values of being helpful, accessible and knowledgeable.”
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care that nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died at age 33 of complications from an auto-immune disease to honor his memory and thank nurses who provide exceptional compassion and kindness to patients.
“I was humbled being nominated for this award. To know you’ve made a difference in someone’s life or birth experience is every nurse’s hope.” remarked Kranzler on the honor. Kranzler lives in Huron with her husband, Jerrod, a civil engineer at IMEG. She has two children, Madeline, a graduate student at the University of South Dakota, and Max, a freshman at South Dakota State University.
Kranzler is the second DAISY Award winner at HRMC, with one nurse recognized each quarter. The department and shift of the award winner receives fresh cinnamon rolls to celebrate. Nominees for each quarter also receive a pin, recognizing their compassion and care. Nominations may be submitted by staff, visitors, providers and patients, with forms available throughout the hospital and online at www.huronregional.org/daisy-awards.
