Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored 45 employees for years of service in addition to two employees for exceptional customer service skills at the hospital’s Employee Awards Presentation on Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Huron Event Center.
During the evening event, 45 employees were recognized for sharing their hearts and years of service, ranging from 5 to 35 years, with hospital patients. Employees and their family members enjoyed a meal while celebrating the 845 years of combined service represented by those being honored.
After the service awards, two special customer service awards were presented to Sue Lansing and Ginger Neitzert, RN. Lansing, who has worked as the executive secretary for patient services for the past year, was selected by coworkers to be the 2015 Exceptional Employee of the Year from the 12 monthly exceptional employee candidates.
According to coworkers, “Sue is reliable and truly ‘shows up’ for work every day. She wants to solve problems and is willing to listen to find out exactly what others need.
“Sue is a dedicated professional and a positive thinker who works to make things happen,” the nomination continued. “She is always pleasant, smiling, friendly, dedicated and simply a great lady.”
Lansing was born and raised in Upstate New York and worked for a skilled nursing facility for 36 years before moving to Alpena last year with her husband, Sam, who is a taxidermist and trains dogs.
Neitzert, who has worked as a registered nurse at HRMC for more than 38 years and currently works as an emergency room nurse, received the 2015 Mickey Mouse Award. The Mickey Mouse Award began in 1989 in memory of Dr. David Buchanan whose uplifting personality and contagious smile were an inspiration to all that knew him. Each year, an HRMC employee is selected who is dedicated to making people feel better in whatever they do. Employees are nominated for the honor by coworkers.
According to her coworkers, “Ginger has a contagious smile and upbeat attitude, and her kind and patient nature puts others at ease even during the most difficult times.
“She is an all-around kind, caring and loving person who willingly assists others who need help,” the nomination continued. “Ginger is an inspiration to others; motivating them to be their best.”
Originally from Bonilla, SD, Neitzert earned a nursing associate degree from Huron University. Nietzert and her husband, Jack, live in Huron and have five grown children – Bryan (Ashley) of Orlando, FL, Brianna (Aaron) of Sioux Falls, SD, Brennan (Julie) of Omaha, NE, Brandon (Beth) of Aberdeen, SD, and Corey of St. Paul, MN. – as well as two grandchildren – Brynn (2) and Brecken (3 months) of Sioux Falls.
