Larry Young Joins HRMC Surgery Team

Huron Regional Medical Center announces the addition of Larry Young, a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), to the HRMC surgical staff, according to Dawn Allen, RN, vice president of patient services for HRMC.
As a certified registered nurse anesthetist for HRMC, Young performs anesthesia management of patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures in addition to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. CRNAs also administer epidural medication and nerve blocks for pain management.
“Larry’s experience in both large and rural medical settings make him a great addition to our surgical team,” said Allen. “His commitment to providing an excellent patient experience makes him a great fit for HRMC and our community.”
Originally from Missouri, Young earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from University of Missouri at Columbia. He holds a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from Keiser University in Naples, Florida. Larry previously worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. For the last nine years, he has worked as a CRNA at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.
“Part of what drew me to South Dakota and HRMC was the conservative values, and the charm of a smaller town,” says Young. “I am looking forward to expanding my opportunities to help our patients have positive surgical experiences and pain management services close to home.”
He and his wife, Shelly, have two children. Their son, John, lives in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with his wife Leslie and is currently attending college in pursuit of a nursing degree. Daughter Allie will attend Dakota State University in Fall 2021.
“What really impressed us about Huron was just how friendly the people are,” says Young. “It seems like a great place to live and work, and we’re looking forward to being a part of this community.”
