May Mammogram Winners Announced
June 15, 2018
Huron, S.D. – To encourage women to learn their risk for breast cancer, HRMC offered free flowers and a chance to win a pampering package or flower delivery for a year for calling to schedule a mammogram during May.
Because, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, second to lung cancer, early detection is key to increasing the chance of survival. Nearly 180 women increased their chances of early breast cancer detection by scheduling a mammogram.
Suzanne Stahl, of Huron, was the lucky winner of the pampering package including a manicure, pedicure and massage at the spa of her choice. Larae Johnsen will receive six seasonal floral bouquet deliveries for making the choice to participate in early detection activities.
HRMC’s digital mammography uses safe, low doses of X-rays to image the inside of breasts and computer-aided detection (CAD) provides a "second read" of the mammogram by a computer to assist the radiologist in making an accurate diagnosis. HRMC's digital mammography system is fast, yet ultra-sensitive, and generally only takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
