McWethy Recognized with DAISY Award at HRMC

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has announced Peyton McWethy, RN, as the most recent recipient of the DAISY Award.
McWethy, a nurse in the emergency department at HRMC, was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient he cared for who shared, “He treated me with the upmost respect and generally cared about the patient needs.”
As an ER nurse, McWethy enjoys the unpredictability of the job, where every day brings new challenges and opportunities. “I think the part that I like the most about my job is that you never will have the same day twice, you never know what's going to happen that day in the ER and it keeps things exciting and you're always learning something new.”
Upon receiving the DAISY Award, McWethy stated, “It is a huge honor, I knew that it was a very important award and the nurses that I saw receiving the award are amazing. I was surprised to receive the same honor as those great nurses as I’m just doing my job and taking care of patients how they deserve to be taken care of.”
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died at age 33 of complications from an auto-immune disease to honor his memory and thank nurses who provide exceptional compassion and kindness to patients.
McWethy lives in Huron with his wife, Emma, their two daughters, Delilah and Vienna, and their large group of pets. When he’s not working, he enjoys quality time with his family, playing with his daughters, going for walks with their dogs, golfing and watching movies.
McWethy is the tenth DAISY Award winner at HRMC, with one nurse recognized each quarter. The department and shift of the award winner receives fresh cinnamon rolls to celebrate, as requested by the Barnes family. Nominees for each quarter also receive a pin recognizing their compassion and care. Nominations may be submitted by staff, visitors, providers and patients, with forms available throughout the hospital and online at www.huronregional.org/recognition-awards.
