New General and Trauma Surgeon Joins HRMC Physicians Clinic

Huron, S.D. – Steven Branch, MD, PhD, a board-certified general and trauma surgeon, has joined the Huron Regional Medical Center medical staff the HRMC Physicians Clinic.
Dr. Branch provides diagnosis and surgical treatment of a broad range of conditions including cancer, thyroid, appendix, hernia, colon and gastrointestinal issues and trauma care. He is available full-time in the community to provide surgical services, follow-up and emergency care.
Dr. Branch earned his doctor of medicine and philosophy degrees from Boston University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency at the University of South Florida. He has practiced as a general and trauma surgeon in private and group practices since 2005 in Massachusetts, Florida, Arkansas and Indiana. Additionally, he has worked as an independent surgeon serving hospitals in need of a temporary surgeon in Indiana, Rapid City and Huron, South Dakota, as well as Fargo, North Dakota.
He earned a bachelor of science in chemistry from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Branch worked in various laboratory, research and chemist roles in St. Louis, Missouri, and Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts. While earning his medical degrees, he published several articles and abstracts for medical journals and currently serves on the editorial board for Translational Surgery.
Dr. Branch has been serving as a temporary surgeon at HRMC Physicians Clinic since April and is planning to establish permanent residency here. He is married and has two grown children. In his spare time, Dr. Branch enjoys reading, writing scientific and philosophical articles, running and exercising in the gym.
