HURON, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) announces the addition of two new therapists to the rehabilitation services department, according to Karmen Weinzirl, PT, director of HRMC’s rehabilitation services.
Amber Perrenoud, OT, who is originally from Huron and returned to HRMC as an occupational therapist in December, provides evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation to people of all ages with cognitive, psychosocial and physical challenges. Tauree Peterson, DPT, joined HRMC in January as a physical therapist and provides injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation to patients of all ages. HRMC provides occupational and physical therapy services to patients staying in the hospital, as well as outpatients of all ages.
“I am pleased to welcome Amber and Tauree to our team,” explained Weinzirl. “They both bring a wealth of knowledge and experiences to our patients and their special interests and certifications complement our other therapists very well.”
Perrenoud received a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn., and completed a master of occupational therapy at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. In addition to working as an occupational therapist for HRMC, Perrenoud provided occupational health services to patients throughout the region while working with Aegis for the last five years. She is also certified in lymphedema therapy and fascial movement (kinesiology) taping.
Peterson completed a doctorate of physical therapy at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. She also holds a bachelor of science in radiographic sciences from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, and is certified as a radiologic technologist. Prior to joining HRMC, Peterson worked as a physical therapist for Barrow Brain and Spine in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Perrenoud, who is the daughter of Jeff and Jean Larson, lives in Huron with her husband, Tom, who is a pilot for Agtegra, and their two-year-old son, Charlie. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two-year-old and friends and family.
Peterson and her husband, Ryan, recently moved to Hitchcock where he works as a farmer. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors and with friends and family.
