Shawn Martin Named HRMC Foundation Director

Huron, S.D. – The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the addition of Shawn Martin as executive director for the organization, according to Lisa Boomsma, HRMC Foundation board chair.
“I am pleased to announce Shawn as our new executive director,” said Boomsma. “Shawn is very engaged in our community and his skills, experiences and passion will help us continue our vision of creating a Healthy Huron.”
Originally from Oklahoma, Martin has lived in Huron for more than 20 years and considers the community home. He graduated from the University of Sioux Falls with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. Martin has worked at Performance Radio in Huron for the last 15 years, most recently serving as general manager. Prior to joining Performance Radio, Martin was program director at KJAM in Madison, South Dakota.
Martin begins his new role on November 25, and is responsible for directing and coordinating fundraising, special events, community and donor relations and all other activities that further the mission of the HRMC Foundation, which is to support the health and wellbeing of the community and ensure high-quality health care is always available close to home. Right here in Huron.
“When I learned the position was open, I knew I wanted to be part of the work. Huron has been home for my family for decades, and like many people in our community, some very significant events in our family life have happened at HRMC,” said Martin. “I’m looking forward to using my communication and relationship skills working with donors and other community members to advance our health care mission here.”
Martin and his wife, Taunya who works at NorthWestern Energy, have four children: Zoe, age 15, Charlie and Tommie, who are 12 years old, and Jimmie, age 9. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, fishing, exercising, and playing sports with his kids.
