Sheneman Recognized as HRMC Innovator of the Quarter

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently selected Darci Sheneman, RN, to receive the Innovator of the Quarter Award.
She recently submitted an innovative idea to implement an emergency alert method in the procedure rooms at the HRMC Physicians Clinic to notify other staff that assistance is needed. While procedure rooms are located in close proximity to other rooms and staff, an alert method or alarm would allow additional staff to be notified quickly that assistance is needed. Sheneman’s suggestion will ensure optimal patient safety and assure clinical staff that help is readily available, if required.
Upon acceptance of the award Sheneman remarked, “I am surprised, and glad the idea was received well. I look forward to working to implement as we are always looking for ways to improve patient safety.”
Each quarter, the Innovator Award is presented and celebrated, indicating eligibility for an annual Innovator of the Year Award. Ideas are submitted by employees via online form or paper suggestion card and are selected by a committee of peers based upon impact to patient and employee experience, feasibility, and innovation. The Innovator Award celebrates the power of innovation in solving practical problems and enhancing the quality of care delivered at HRMC.
Sheneman has been a nurse at HRMC for five years. “I have wanted to help people since I was a kid and have always wanted to be a nurse. It’s something I really enjoy.”
Originally from Huron, Sheneman was born at HRMC and graduated from Huron High School. She traveled with her husband, Robert, for twenty years due to his time in the military. Since then, they have returned and live with their two pug dogs, Roxy and Olive, as well as some chickens on their farm. In her free time, Sheneman enjoys camping and tending to the chickens.
